Microsoft Office Setup creates log files within your temp folder. The default is the %userprofile%\inetpub. The logs are stored in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Machine. For reinstallation or updating installation issues, they often use the default system profile, so you’ll need to collect the normal logs from there as well. After you have logged off of the machine, open the Windows Task Manager and select the Processes tab. If you’re going to be reinstalling Microsoft Word, you may need to click the “Start” button in the Task Manager for the changes to take effect.

When installing Microsoft Office, you’ll also need to select the appropriate platform for your operating system to be able to run it properly. If your computer has a Microsoft Windows operating system and it was installed with Professional Plus edition, you’ll need to install Microsoft Word. To do this, open your Start Menu and click on “Programs”. You’ll find a Microsoft Word application there; you’ll need to open it by clicking on the “edit” menu. Finally, on the far right you’ll see the option for selecting an installation type; select the “manual” option.

 

During Microsoft Office Setup, you can also select which programs will be included with the program. For example, if you are going to be installing the Microsoft Word application, you may want to select that program first. In previous versions of Windows, there were separate installers for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but with Windows 8 and higher, Microsoft has included all three programs within the default installation. To complete the installation process, save all your work, restart the computer and install the programs again. The last step is to launch the Microsoft Office application and follow the on-screen instructions.
